Google Trends: windsurf

Chris from www.wind-surfing.nl emailed me this morning about google trends website. Each summer windsurf(ing) is searched most, soo the northern part of the world windsurfs the most. The bad news, each year less people search for windsurf...

I think we (windsurfing community) have to use social media. Social bookmarking is for free, we only need a commited group... Yesterday I had a nice conversation with Rolf Aalders, he told me about Rabobank invests in social media (blogs, facebook, digg, twitter, delicious, etc.). It is a fact social bookmarking will grow a lot....

just enter facebook in google trends and you will understand.

  1. This is not completely correct. Lots of those graphs are based in indices. Which means that not the absolute values are shown. You can only use this kind of graphs to get a grasp of the trend.

It's a fact that there is an upwards trend in the amount of search queries (and besides that, the use of more keywords used in a query).

If the amount of windsurfing queries is still the same, you will see a downwards trend. And that's what you will see for a lot of keywords lately. It doesn't exactly mean that there are less windsurfing related search queries.
